It’s a great question to ask yourself every day.
Where do you see beauty today? That is the question a friend of mine is asking her two kids every morning when she is walking them to school.
My friend and I were sharing some information about what we do to stay positive even during hard times and she explained that to me. I think this is a wonderful idea.
I started a gratitude journal a year or so ago and life and its challenges made me expand that ritual to my family. I bought two extra notebooks and the three of us – at breakfast we take a couple of minutes to write down 5 things we are grateful for. One of the women I am listening to (Rachel Hollis) does that too and she look back at the last 24 hours and find things that she is grateful for. I do that too now. It helps paying a little bit more attention to the previous day and a little bit more attention to things that I would have immediately forget – like a gentleman at the supermarket who offers to take my caddy back as he was bringing his anyway, or the woman in the movie theatre restrooms who paid me a compliment about my outfit.
Last year I participated in a training where the gentleman providing the training told us that on a good day, he writes 5 things he is grateful for, on an OK day he looks for 10 things and on a bad day he looks for 25 things.
Of course finding 25 things could be a challenge but as I am looking as also very simple things like a tasty cup of tea or a funny TV I am luck enough to see because I do have eyes, a house, a TV, electricity, a couch, internet and so much more, finding 25 things could actually come up pretty quickly.
This exercise resonate as well with one episode of Change Ma Vie – the French podcast I love. This one is called “I love my life because”

Unfortunately this is all in French but I am sure that there is someone, somewhere who do it in English as well.
That was my thought of the day/week/month….
What about you? Do you do gratitude journal?
I want to hear all about it.
With gratitude.
Léo.
